The Issue

Most recent data from the Metropolitan Policy shows that the annual average of reported residential burglaries over the past eight years in our immediate neighbourhood stands at a high 70 with an alarming upward trend (79 in 2016, 93 in 2017). We have the second highest incident rate in the borough and, in all likelihood, these numbers are in reality considerably higher!

The majority of burglaries are opportunistic rather than targeted or personal. Our homes are particularly vulnerable because of our vicinity to the busy Brompton Road with easy access and escape routes. Deterrence is therefore key. We need to take responsibility for our own personal security – as things stand the police cannot cope. If we don’t, this situation will continue to escalate.
